Raised Center-Hall Cottage

Raised Center-Hall Cottage

Found in various historic neighborhoods throughout the city, Raised Center-Hall Cottages were built between 1803 and 1870 as a smaller, city imitation of the French Colonial plantation houses. One-and-a-half story wood structures, these cottages are raised two to eight feet about ground level on brick piers and have a full-width front gallery framed by six columns. The fa├žade has five openings with the front door in the center and a side-gabled roof with central dormer.
