Faubourg Marigny

Developed as New Orleans’ second suburb in 1806, the Marigny is immediately downriver of the French Quarter. Once a Creole plantation, today the Marigny is filled with Creole and Classic Revival cottages and has become a destination for locals and visitors looking for great music, fine food, and an authentic, historic neighborhood.

Riverfront warehouses now accommodate artists’ studios and performance spaces, independent galleries and eclectic stores populate lower Marigny, and restaurants and jazz clubs line Frenchman Street. Part of the city’s Reinventing The Crescent program, the Faubourge Marigny continues to evolve.
