The Mid-City neighborhood – as its name indicates – is located in the middle of New Orleans on what was once the back slope of the Mississippi River’s natural levee or “back of town”. Midway between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, the neighborhood is bounded by Orleans Avenue, City Park Avenue, the Pontchartrain Expressway and Broad Street.

A large, diverse neighborhood, Mid-City contains fewer tourist destinations than other parts of the city giving the area a quirky local flavor. Mid-City is experiencing a revival of single family and owner-occupied homes due in part to its easy accessibility and close proximity to the city’s planned new medical corridor, charming architecture and beautiful oak-lined avenues.
